RotoPlay's Baseball Face Off is a unique and exciting game to play for the fantasy baseball season. Face Off is a special head-to-head contest where 1-in-2 wins! You may challenge a friend or choose to be automatically paired with another RotoPlay member. Your job is to draft one MLB player from each of the seven groups presented. Each of the players you select will accumulate RotoPlay points during the contest. Your goal is to utilize your fantasy GM skills to build a team that accumulates the most points. Score more points than your opponent and you win $90! It's that easy.
Cost
- $49.95 per entry (Maximum of five (5) entries per registered member per contest)
Your Team
A new one day contest is held every Tuesday throughout the MLB season. Prior to the 1:00 PM EST deadline of each contest, you must select one player from each of the seven groups presented in order to complete your entry. You may change your picks at any time up until the deadline by visiting the "My Locker" section of the site. Your opponent's picks become viewable 15 minutes after the entry deadline.
NOTE: If you challenge a friend, please make sure your friend submits their picks prior to the entry deadline. If your friend does not beat the deadline, you will automatically be matched up with another member at random.
NOTE: Please be sure to enter each contest as early as possible. If there are an odd number of total entries from all participants for a given contest, the last entry received will be unmatched for that particular contest, and that member will receive a credit of $49.95 in their account, valid for future Face Off contests or any other contest.
Scoring System
Final results will be posted every Wednesday. The chart below outlines how you earn points.
Hitters
- Each single = 1 Point
- Each double = 2 Points
- Each triple = 5 Points
- Each HR = 6 Points
- Each RBI = 3 Points
- Each run scored = 3 Points
- Each stolen base = 5 Points
- Each walk = 1 Point
In the event of a double-header, the second game is the official game to be scored.
Tiebreakers
If both participants tie for the highest amount of total RotoPlay points, the following tiebreakers below will be used to determine who wins the contest:
- Group 7 is designated as the wild card group. If a tie exists, the participant's player who scores the most points in this group wins
- If a tie still exists, the participant with the closest prediction of the total runs scored for the game identified wins
- If a tie still exists, a random drawing will determine which participant wins
For example, Group 7 includes Sammy Sosa and Barry Bonds. Participant #1 picks Sosa, who scores 15 points. Participant #2 picks Bonds, who scores 10 points. Participant #1 wins the tiebreaker.
